  • 1 Non-stick Skillet Prevents sticking
  • 1 Spatula For flipping
  • 1 Fork For smoothing quark

Ingredients

For the Quark Taler

  • 250 g low-fat quark Or Greek yogurt
  • 2 large eggs Room temperature
  • 50 g vanilla protein powder Optional but boosts protein
  • 100 g oat flour Or ground oats
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest Optional
  • 1 tablespoon honey Optional
  • butter or oil For frying

Optional Toppings

  • To taste sour cream
  • To taste jam or marmalade
  • To taste fresh berries
  • To taste powdered sugar

Instructions

  • I let my daughter help mash the [quark] with a fork until smooth, she always says it looks like fluffy cloud cream.
  • We gently whisk in the [eggs] until everything looks silky and pale.
  • We stir in the [protein powder], [oat flour], [baking powder], [lemon zest], and [honey] until a thick batter forms.
  • I warm a skillet with [butter], and Olivia always listens for the “happy sizzle” sound.
  • We spoon small circles of [batter] into the pan and cook until bubbles form, about 2–3 minutes.
  • We flip carefully and cook another 2 minutes until golden and proud-looking
  • We top them with [berries], [jam], or [sour cream] and enjoy them warm together at the table

Notes

  • “If you can’t find quark, Greek yogurt or blended cottage cheese works beautifully.”
  • “These freeze wonderfully, just pop them into the toaster for busy mornings.”
  • “For savory taler, skip the honey and vanilla powder and add herbs and cheese instead.”
  • “Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days.”
